These offences (and Brazier's approach to the boy) were almost identical to those for which he was convicted in 1994, when he pleaded guilty to three counts of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old boy in the boy's home and also at Brazier`s parish house. He told police the boy had progressively become attractive to him, and admitted to hugging and fondling him 100 to 200 times. He was given a two year suspended sentence. After the first set of offences, Brazier received psychological treatment and a subsequent report from his doctor said it was unlikely he would re-offend. On the basis of that report, Brazier was appointed priest to another parish in South Australia, where he committed the second set of offences.
