Information about the churches
Know your enemy, they say. Not that we want to think of the church as our enemy, but the cold hard reality is that so often they treat us like the enemy when we lay a complaint against one of their own, we have little choice but to respond on those terms. So this section examines church protocols for dealing with abuse complaints; what should and shouldn't be in them, how they measure up, and the texts of individual denominations. True to my intention of not sending abuse victims to church-related links, I have included texts of protocols rather than links to church-run websites. However, that carries the downside that many protocols aren't included because I don't have permission from the denomination to do so.
The second part of this section, still only a potential section at this stage, is intended to give a brief overview of denominational structures and who within each denomination deals with clergy sexual abuse complaints. I'm more than happy to accept contributions from members of various denominations to assist me in developing this section. Please email me if you can help.
